As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD

Glorifying God

“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”
Romans 11:36

To glorify God is the highest service that we can render to our Maker, and indeed the Bible teaches that it is the very purpose for which we exist.

“Everyone who is called by My name,
Whom I have created for My glory;
I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”
Isaiah 43:7

What Does It Mean to Glorify God?

“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
(1 Corinthians 10:31)

To glorify God is to do and delight in doing His will. Life is about God—our Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, and Provider. True life is lived in loving obedience to Him.

“I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heart.”
Psalm 40:8

Living for God’s Glory

In our natural state, we live for ourselves. But a Christian is transformed—brought from darkness to light, from death to life. We are called to live for God’s glory in every area.

Life is short, and Scripture reminds us to use it wisely:

“Teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12

Following Christ’s Example

Jesus perfectly demonstrated a life devoted to God’s will:

“I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”
John 6:38

Practical Ways to Glorify God

  • Prayer: Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
  • Evangelism: Make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19)
  • Forgiveness: Forgive others (Matthew 6:15)
  • Relationships: Love, serve, and live in peace (Romans 12:18)
  • Perseverance: Rejoice in trials (Matthew 5:10-12)

The Role of God’s Word

Scripture teaches and equips us to do God’s will:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God… that the man of God may be complete.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17

A Call to Commitment

We are called to present our lives fully to God as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1). Whether young or old, saved or seeking, God calls us to Himself.

“Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28

Conclusion

God is faithful. He strengthens and sustains us through every season of life so that we may glorify Him. May we live in joyful obedience, delighting in His will.

“Now may the God of peace… make you complete in every good work to do His will…”
Hebrews 13:20-21

To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
