The passionate desire and goal of every true Christian parent is to raise children who know, fear, love and obey God. We have no greater joy than to see our children walking in the glorious truths of God's word. We know that the deadly enemy of our souls is set on the destruction of our children. One terrible tool of the enemy is the media. The Bible is replete with warnings and Godly counsel. Wisdom requires that we heed God's word and put on the whole armour of God and withstand every wicked scheme of the evil one.

The Christian journey, however, is neither rosy nor easy. It is a walk of faith. The end is infinitely glorious. We have an ever-living hope. But for much of our sojourn here we travel a difficult road. All Christians sooner or later and to a greater or lesser degree encounter setbacks, disappointments, and prolonged waiting for answers to prayer. Difficult relationships, persecution, loss of a child or other loved ones, health issues and so on. But we were never promised a trouble-free life in this world. The Lord's faithful ones keep His covenant for He is their keeper. They keep His testimonies for He puts His laws into their minds and writes them upon their hearts.
By "the paths of the Lord" we may understand the different ways He takes in His dealings with His people. Observe that "all" of them are declared to be mercy and truth towards them.

The love spoken of in Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (the "Shema") and in Matthew 22:37-40 is a whole-hearted love that leaves no room for rival loves. Since God is the Almighty, Sovereign Creator of the universe, perfectly just and full of mercy, He rightly commands that our love of Him is to be total and to take priority over everything else.
