Give Thanks Unto The Lord

be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and
making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to
God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Scripture exhorts us again and again to be thankful. Thankfulness is God’s very will
for us (1 Thessalonians 5:17). A thankful spirit is a beautiful, true and victorious spirit. It is eternal cause for thanksgiving that a holy and awesome God should so love us as to pour out His mercy upon unworthy sinners through Jesus Christ, the indescribable gift. Thankfulness guards our heart against a myriad sins – covetousness,
pride, complaining and murmuring, greed. Would Adam and Eve have believed Satan’s
lie that God was withholding His goodness from them if they had been rightly saturated with
gratitude?
is a gem, born out of the spiritual treasure of humility. It is a sure antidote to
discouragement. Thankfulness keeps us focused on God and gives Him glory. It
refreshes our spirit and it keeps us joyful.
