Hear Him!
“Hear Him”
A reflection on the Transfiguration and the call to obedience
“While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying,
‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!’”
— Matthew 17:5
“For we did not follow cunningly devised fables… but were eyewitnesses of His majesty… ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’”
— 2 Peter 1:16–18
The Revelation of Christ
At the Mount of Transfiguration, God the Father declares and reveals Jesus Christ as His Beloved Son, the Anointed One,
the Chosen One, the awaited Messiah. He is greater than all spiritual heroes—greater than Moses, Elijah, Solomon, and Jonah.
He is the unique, eternal Son of God, the second person of the Godhead. The purpose of this revelation is that we might
recognize Him as Lord and Saviour: to hear, honour, love, and obey Him.
Friends, hear Him. Hearing is not merely mental—it results in action. Loving obedience is His due.
True disciples hear His voice and follow Him. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He has the words of eternal life.
“How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation…?”
— Hebrews 2:2–4
We are called to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him. The path to glory is through the cross.
Hear Him. Glorify Him. Live for Him.
