Why Would You Die?

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

“Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord GOD, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?”
Ezekiel 18:23

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
1 Peter 2:24

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
2 Corinthians 4:3–4

Why would you die, O sinner?
Why would you persist in sin and rebellion against God?

The Bible says that:

…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23

O that you may see the true wretchedness of your sinful soul and the supreme blessedness of the God Who desires to save you! O that you may see the infinite holiness, purity and faultlessness of God!

O that you would see the deceitfulness of sin and the deadly poison behind every bait of Satan! O that you would know that the consequences of unrepented sin are dire and eternal!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.
Micah 7:18

Christ is your Deliverer, Forgiveness, and Righteousness.

Consider the brevity of this life compared to eternity. What wisdom is there in sin? Why reject the One who offers salvation and peace?

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8

Come to Christ, O sinner, before it is too late.

A Prayer of Repentance

Dear God,

I admit I am a sinner and You are infinitely holy. I need and ask for Your forgiveness.
I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again.

I receive Your gift of salvation by faith, not by my works. Cleanse me from all sin and make me Your child.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me live for You.

I confess Jesus as Lord of my life. In His precious name, Amen.

Sinners! Turn, Why Will You Die?

Sinners, turn: why will you die?
God, your maker, asks you why.
God, who did your being give,
Gave Himself, that you might live;

Why, you thankless creatures, why,
Will you cross His love, and die?

Sinners, turn: why will you die?
God, your Saviour, asks you why.

Sinners, turn: why will you die?
God, the Spirit, asks you why;

Sinners, turn, while God is near:
Now your Saviour spreads His hands.
